UI design has been moving away from tried and true patterns and towards a hodge-podge of custom, complex, and less usable designs.
If you ask me, the rise of “user experience” is the original sin here. People used to care about usability. Now all they care about is a user experience that hooks the user. Not good.
Houdini is a set of low-level APIs that exposes parts of the CSS engine, giving developers the power to extend CSS by hooking into the styling and layout process of a browser’s rendering engine. Houdini is a group of APIs that give developers direct access to the CSS Object Model (CSSOM), enabling developers to write code the browser can parse as CSS, thereby creating new CSS features without waiting for them to be implemented natively in browsers.

Odds ratios are confusing and should never be reported. Also, whenever you read a news article about a study and it says that X was “Y% more likely” than Z, consider the possibility that it’s actually reporting on an odds ratio and therefore plain wrong. (Especially if Y is implausibly high.)
